A multi-monitor setup is desktop PC territory. Can I use my surface pro 3 as a primary monitor? What about with the docking station?

It did work for dual display but I had to press the button on the actual adapter too frequently to get the external displays to work. I'm currently using a dock from Lenovo which gets me dual screens without issue, but I have driver issues. We've just this week gotten a Surface Pro 4 and as Surfacebook in with the new style docks. I'm waiting to see how they work out. They have full displayport outs, not mini.
